Lenton Care Link is a registered charity working with elderly, vulnerable, housebound or isolated people in certain areas of Nottingham. We serve Lenton, Dunkirk, and some areas of the Park and Wollaton Park where these border Lenton.
What: A place for older people to come and enjoy a meal and various activities together. Sometimes trips out are organised, and there are often outside speakers.
When & Where: Mondays, 10.30-2pm, Dunkirk & Old Lenton Community Centre.
Thursdays, 10.30-2pm, Thomas Helwys Baptist Church.
Asian Lunch Club
What: An Asian meal is cooked and served, and there are various activities and trips out. There is an Asian emphasis, and members of the Asian community are particularly encouraged to attend, but anyone is welcome.
When & Where: Tuesdays, 10.30-2pm, Unity House.
Visiting Scheme
What: Volunteers are linked with elderly or isolated people to visit on a regular basis, to chat and help with basic chores as appropriate.
When & Where: The project is run from the office, where volunteers may come for the initial assessment and briefing, with visits happening in the client's home.
Prescription Collection & Delivery Service
What: In partnership with the local doctor's surgeries and the chemist, prescriptions for housebound people can be collected and delivered to them.
When & Where: There is usually cover all day, every week day, out on the streets of Lenton, Dunkirk, and some areas of The Park, contactable by mobile 'phone.
Garden Maintenance Scheme
What: A service for low-income, low mobility people, whereby the garden can be kept tidy during the summer months.
When & Where: From March - September, when it's convenient and the weather is good!
